Herkimer native Anne Dorrance graduated from Herkimer College in 1978 with an Associate in Science degree. Anne has gone on to establish a career in scientific research and the academy. Following her father, Herkimer College Professor Emeritus Robert Dorrance, into the field of biology, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Pathology at the College of Environmental Science and Forestry; a Master of Science in Plant Pathology at the University of Massachusetts; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Pathology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

During her career Dr. Dorrance has worked as a plant pathologist, research biologist, research assistant and post-doctoral research associate. Currently, she holds the position of Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University Agricultural Research and Development Center. Much of her published work focuses on soybean crop improvement.
