Coming to Herkimer
Herkimer College is located in Upstate New York, between the cities of Syracuse and Albany.
International students should arrange to enter through one of the major U.S. port-of-entry, with the final destination being the Syracuse-Hancock International Airport (SYR) or Albany-International Airport (ALB).
The Herkimer College campus is about one hour by car from these airports. There is no public transportation between these airports and college.
Syracuse Hancock International Airport is served by the following major air carriers:
American Eagle, Continental, Delta, Independence Air, JetBlue, Northwest, United Airlines, US Airways.
Albany International Airport is served by the following major air carriers:
Air Canada, American Airlines, Continental, Delta Airlines, Independence Air, Northwest, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways.
- Valid passport.
- Valid F-1 visa stamp in your passport.
- Form I-20 authorized for travel by Office of International Programs on page 3.
If one or more of the above documents are not valid, you should contact the Office of International Programs to inquire about the procedures to follow.
If you are subject to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special registration you need to follow the instructions given by the USCIS concerning departure from the US.
Birnie Bus Service
Transportation in Herkimer area is provided by Birnie Bus Services. In order to go to Utica or surrounding areas, this is the best method of transportation and has low fares. For bus schedules: http://birniebus.com/
