Herkimer Women's Basketball
Program History
A true staple of the HCCC athletic program, beginning with Jeanne Galvin in 1971, women's basketball has produced four Region III championships (1979, 1980, 1994, 1995) and has had three Regional runners-up teams (1996, 1997, 1998). The program has a sterling 370-182 record since the 1989-90 season.
Outstanding players through the years have included: Melissa Chandler, Joanie Bolan (Region III Player of the Year, 1992), Michelle Davis (1994-95 Region III Player of the Year), Marla Stagliano, Jessica Seamon (Region III Player of the Year, 1998) and Kara Bowman, to name a few. Galvin guided HCCC to the first two Regional championships, winning 198 games in her 14 years as head coach.
Current head coach John Campagna took over during the 1989-90 season. Campagna has posted the most wins in Region III Women's Basketball history with 370 wins over the past 19 years. Under his leadership, the program has continued to excel, setting a school record for wins in 1993-94 and finishing 30-3 overall that year, placing them fifth in the nation.
