October 20, 2005

Herkimer's volleyball team lost a three-set match to SUNY Canton on Wednesday night by scores of 28-30, 26-30, and 20-30.  Coach Katie DeCoursey said "Herkimer played an amazing catch-up in game one trailing 28-19 at one point." Decoursey thought Herkimer would keep the momentum going into the second game, but they gave up the first seven points.  "We do a great job catching up, but the holes we dig are too deep," said DeCoursey. Despite the loss, Herkimer had outstanding games from Lindsey Ming of Mt. Markham and Emily Thomas of Sandy Creek.  Ming finished the game with 22 digs.  DeCoursey said "Lindsey got great touches. Balls that I thought would land were somehow in the air because of Lindsey." In the last three matches, Thomas has compiled 33 kills and a .361 hitting efficiency.  "Emily continues to play great matches for Herkimer," said DeCoursey.

Herkimer's record is currently 3-19. Coach DeCoursey is optimistic about the remaining two matches of the season.
