School Philosophy

Our philosophy is based on childhood theorists Piaget, Vygotsky and Erikson. We subscribe to the theory that young children are inherently motivated to learn about their world; that they learn best through play, exploration and discovery using hands on materials that are relevant to them. In addition to using an environmental approach to learning, we believe an increased focus on building social and emotional skills is essential for children in order to succeed in school and in life. Teachers work with families to help children participate successfully in our program particularly when families may have differing ideas about how children learn.
