Sarah Reale Exhibit
March 4, 2008-April 1, 2008
Sarah Reale is a self-taught, local artist and has been showing her work for only the past year. Drawing portraits in nothing but Sharpie markers has provided the effect of a somewhat conventional pop art style portrait in a non-conventional medium. Most of the work has been done in black and white, but it will be taking on drastic bursts of color in the future.
Artist Statement
"I feel that the only thing that is important for me to say about my art, is that I simply love to draw. Art is not anything to me but a necessary facet of my life. It’s simple. I have to do it, or I feel incomplete. There isn’t any easier way to explain where the passion to create this show came from than for me to say that these people have influenced my life and deserve recognition for that. Whether the reason for their influence was the inspiration their character in a movie provided for me, lyrics they’ve written which mark memories in my past, or some type of movement that they were or are part of, they have touched me. They are all, for one reason or another, my icons."
