PENUMBRA (a shadow of a shadow) is a one man Hip-Hop musical that autobiographically illustrates the life of Anthony Martinez, a young Puerto Rican growing up in the Bronx who powerfully confronts issues concerning family, social injustice, and self-identity. His father has been gone for 5 years, only communicating through letters and collect calls. His mother is afraid to tell him the truth. Anthony in turn is challenged to discover manhood by first seeking to reclaim his Taino heritage. This multimedia event utilizes an array of images, videos, and sounds to journey through stories that speak on a son trying to rekindle a lost relationship with his father.
