Amnesty International Annual Global Write-a-thon for Human Rights

  • Robert McLaughlin College Center (RMCC), 202

Herkimer College’s Amnesty International Club is sponsoring participation in the annual Amnesty International Global Write-4-Rights on Tuesday, December 1, joining people worldwide to make a difference in the lives of prisoners of conscience, human rights defenders, victims of torture and at-risk individuals.

Students, staff and local community members will have the opportunity to participate. Using the proven power of the pen, we will write letters to authorities on behalf of those who have been unjustly imprisoned for exercising the rights guaranteed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, established in 1948.

The event will be held in the McLaughlin College Center (RMCC) lobby from 12:00 pm - 2 p.m. Paper will be provided and the letters to be copied will be short and to the point, allowing participants to make a difference in less than 10 minutes. Refreshments, bumper stickers and pins, copies of the universal declaration of human rights, music and more will be available for all participants. Write a Letter, Save a Life!
