Herkimer College Appoints Coordinator of International Academic Programming

Herkimer College announces the appointment of Ember Traino of Utica, NY to the position of coordinator of international academic programming. Traino will be responsible for developing and managing international academic programming, teaching in the English as a Second Language (ESL) instructional program, coordinating ESL testing, placements, course outlines and assessment, advising the International Student Club, and working collaboratively with the Admissions and Student Activities Offices to plan and staff international student orientation activities.

Traino joined Herkimer College in 2012 as an adjunct instructor of ESL courses and College Now liaison. In 2014, she was hired as a part-time professional staff member in the Center for Global Learning, a position in which she taught ESL courses and served as advisor for the International Student Club.

Traino has a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Sienna College and a Master of Science in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from SUNY Albany.

The Center for Global Learning provides a comfortable and welcoming gathering area for international programs and activities and houses the ESL classroom, library, computer lab and study area. Approximately 100 international students are enrolled at Herkimer College from more than 20 countries around the world.
