Governor Appoints two new trustees to the Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees.

Governor Andrew Cuomo recently appointed two new trustees to the Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees.

Mark M. Ainsworth, OD, of Herkimer, will serve a term to expire on June 30, 2022, succeeding Mary Ellen Clark, whose term has expired. Dr. Ainsworth is owner of Herkimer Eye Care Center and is a board member for the Village of Herkimer. He served as the Village of Herkimer mayor from 1999 to 2014 and Village of Herkimer trustee from 1996 to 1999. Dr. Ainsworth is a member of the Herkimer Rotary and a Eucharistic minister at St. Francis De Sales Church. He holds a BS in Biology from St. John Fisher College and a Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Ainsworth is a member of the Mohawk Valley Optometric Society, NYS Optometric Society and American Optometric Society.

Joan Prymas, of Ilion, was appointed for a term to expire on June 30, 2018, to fill a vacancy. Ms. Prymas retired from Herkimer College in 2004 at the rank of professor, after more than 30 years teaching mathematics. She subsequently was awarded emeritus status. Ms. Prymas holds a BA in Mathematics Education, MA in Mathematics and MS in Educational Administration from SUNY Albany. She is a member of the SUNY Retiree Services Corps, serves as treasurer of NYSUT Retiree Council 39 and is a member of the Herkimer County Democratic Committee.
