Herkimer County Community College’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program is designed to prepare students to be skilled health care providers who work under the supervision of a physical therapist. Herkimer’s PTA class of 2015 earned a 95 percent pass rate on the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) National Exam. Graduates must pass the national board exam in order to register with New York State and practice as a physical therapist assistant.

The Content Area School Report from FSBPT compares the mean scale score of Herkimer graduates with those of the graduates of US accredited programs in eight content areas. The class of 2015 exceeded other US programs in seven out of eight content areas.

“Our graduates are amazing,” said Dr. Catherine Delorme, Herkimer College Professor of Physical Therapy. “We expect to hear great things from them in the future!”

“I am very proud of our graduates,” added Dr. Karen Jones, Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at Herkimer College. “They strive to do well in the classroom and while working in the field of physical therapy. The scores on the board examinations show the dedication and devotion of being a student. Seeing and hearing from people they work with and treat once they enter the field shows the true application of the skills they learn in the classroom and makes them the skilled professionals that we can be proud of.”
