Associate Professor of English Publishes Article

Herkimer College Associate Professor of English Lisa Elwood Farber recently published an article called “Mothering, Mothers and the Historical Representations of Black Motherhood in Fiction: Barbara Chase-Riboud’s Sally Hemings” in the anthology Black Motherhood: Contours, Contexts, and Considerations for Demeter Press edited by Karen T. Craddock.

The book considers black motherhood through multiple and global lenses to engage the reader in an expanded reflection and to prompt further discourse on the intersection of race and gender within the construct of motherhood among black women.

Elwood Farber joined the faculty at Herkimer College in2003. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Marymount College and a master’s degree from New Mexico State University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania
