Herkimer College employees recently donated hundreds of blankets, coats, gloves, hats and scarves for the Red Cross “Winter Warmth Project" to benefit local veterans. The donations of new winter apparel and accessories were delivered to the CNY Veterans Outreach Center in Utica, where they will be distributed to homeless and in-need veterans throughout the Mohawk Valley.

"We're thrilled that Herkimer College is supporting our campaign to bring warmth to our veterans this winter," said Mallory Scheve, Executive Director for the American Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley. "With such great partners and generous communities across our chapter, we know we'll be able to make a difference locally with this project."

Through March 1, the Red Cross is seeking donations of new winter items, such as gloves, scarves, hats, coats, blankets, sweatshirts and sweatpants. Donors are encouraged to include a card or personal note of thanks for the veteran who will benefit from each donation. Cards and notes, along with winter items, can be dropped off at any Red Cross office in the Eastern New York Region. To find your nearest Red Cross office, please visit www.redcross.org/eny.
