Cogar Gallery to Include Art from Como and McPherson

Herkimer College’s Cogar Gallery will showcase Justin Como and Andrew McPherson’s “Proprioceptive” through Friday, February 26. An artist reception will be held on Friday, January 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Como is an assistant professor at Herkimer College. He joined the faculty in the fall of 2015 after serving as an assistant professor of art at Mississippi Valley State University from 2012 to 2015. He has exhibited in many galleries internationally. Como holds a Master of Fine Art Sculpture from Ohio University, a Bachelor of Fine Art Sculpture from SUNY Oswego. He also attended the SUNY Oswego International Exchange Program at the University of Tasmania Launceston in Tasmania, Australia and the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA.

Originally from Morrisville, New York, McPherson studied art at the Munson Williams Proctor Institute in Utica and Syracuse University. He has a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the Academy of Art University of San Francisco, and an MFA from Ohio University. McPherson freelanced in San Francisco where he worked with youth arts organizations and painted theater sets. After a few years living in Albany, McPherson relocated to Ohio, where he currently lives with his wife. McPherson has worked for many galleries in Albany, Ohio and San Francisco, including Albany Center Gallery. He has had many exhibits and awards and has created several illustrations and painted sets for various productions.

The Cogar Gallery, located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center, is open to the public free of charge, 8 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday when the College is open. For more information, visit www.herkimer.edu/cogar
