Public Speaking and Storytelling Courses Offered at Herkimer College

Herkimer College will offer two non-credit communications courses, beginning in February, ‘Dynamic Public Speaking’ and ‘The Art of Storytelling.’

The public speaking course will teach participants effective professional interpersonal communication skills, covering many critical areas of verbal and non-verbal communication. Topics include effective thought organization, interview techniques and eliminating destructive nervousness. The class will run for six sessions on Monday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. starting February 22. The fee is $59.

The storytelling course will teach participants how to tap into great oral traditions, learning how to recover memories from long-ago, and how to mimic character voices in order to become an effective storyteller. The class will run for four sessions on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. starting February 17. The fee is $39.
