Herkimer College Internet Academy is Recipient of SUNY FACTT Award for Instructional Support

Herkimer County Community College’s Internet Academy is the recipient of the 2016 State University of New York Faculty Advisory Council on Teaching and Technology (SUNY FACTT) Award for Instructional Support.

The Internet Academy staff will be recognized and have the opportunity to present on Herkimer College’s course refreshment initiative at the annual Conference on Instruction and Technology (CIT) at SUNY Potsdam in May. Staff members include Linda Lamb, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs; William Pelz, Professor and Instructional Designer of Online Learning; Tabitha Carter, Coordinator of Internet Academy; and Cara Boepple, Technology Assistant. CIT is SUNY’s largest and most prominent event on instructional technology in education, providing a forum for faculty, instructional support professionals and policy makers to present, discuss and explore innovative avenues for integrating technology into the teaching and learning environment.

The course refresh initiative at Herkimer College was designed to guarantee online students the highest quality, most accessible and most personally relevant courses possible. Refreshed courses were aimed to provide students with state of the art learning strategies which encourage deep learning, course completion and success.

Herkimer’s Internet Academy supports 20 complete online degree programs, three online certificate programs and over 200 online courses which are made available to both on campus and online students. Included is access to all of our in-support services on-campus students are offered, like advisement, tutoring, disabilities services, library services and technical support.
