Faculty Promotions and Tenure Awarded

The Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees took action recently to recognize several faculty through promotion and tenure, effective September 1, 2016.

Monica Hack-Polkosnick was promoted from assistant to associate professor of crime analysis. Hack-Polkosnick was appointed to the faculty in 2009. She holds an A.A.S. from Mohawk Valley Community College, a B.P.S. from SUNY Poly and an M.P.A. from the University of Georgia.

Lisa Elwood-Farber was promoted from associate professor to professor of English. She was appointed to the faculty in 2003 and holds a B.A. from Marymount College and an M.A. from New Mexico State University.

George Smith was promoted from associate professor to professor of Chemistry. He was appointed to the faculty in 2003 and holds an A.A.S. from SUNY Cobleskill, a B.S. from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and an M.S. from Colorado State University.

Jane Verri was promoted from associate professor to professor of Social Science. She was appointed to the faculty in 2002 and holds an A.A. from Herkimer County Community College, B.A. from SUNY Poly and M.S. from the College of Saint Rose.

Mary Ann Wrinn was promoted from associate professor to professor of Fine Arts. She was appointed to the faculty in 1992 and holds a B.A. from SUNY Potsdam and M.F.A. from Ohio University.

Assistant Professor of English and Remedial English Eileen Hart was granted tenure. She was appointed to the faculty in 2011 and holds a B.A. from SUNY Albany, an M.A. from the University of South Carolina and an M.S. from the College of Saint Rose.

Assistant Professor of Science Nicole McDaniels, Ph.D. was granted tenure. She was appointed to the faculty in 2011 and holds a B.S. from SUNY Buffalo and a Ph.D. from Syracuse University.

Herkimer College President Cathleen C. McColgin said, “I’d like to congratulate the faculty members recognized this year through promotion in rank and tenure. We are fortunate to have such highly credentialed, experienced and dedicated individuals on our faculty.”
