Herkimer College to host Veterans Services Fair

Herkimer County Community College will host a Veterans Services Fair on Thursday, April 6 from noon to 2 p.m. in the Robert McLaughlin College Center.

Central New York veterans and their families are invited to learn about services for veterans and military families, meet with employers interested in recruiting veterans, and explore education and training opportunities.

A panel discussion on the issues veterans face as they return to civilian life will be presented in the amphitheater at 12:30 pm. There will be an opportunity to interact with Colonial Spanish Mustangs from Spirit Dogs Farm in Frankfort and learn about the therapeutic use of horses in recovering from traumatic brain injuries and PTSD. Additionally, the expanded Fallen Stars Memorial exhibit will be on display.

The event is is made possible through the SUNY grant, Mohawk Valley Connections. The goal of the grant is to increase collaboration between community colleges, the New York State Department of Labor and local and regional partners to link students and community members with career services and employment opportunities.
