Cogar Gallery to Exhibit Artwork by Sandra Z. De Visser

Herkimer College’s Cogar Gallery will exhibit Still on the artistic quest by Sandra Z. De Visser from Monday, May 8 through Monday, June 19. An artist reception will be held on Friday, May 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

De Visser is a graduate of SUNY Albany and Colgate University. Further study led to a Fine Arts Studio Series Certificate from Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute School of Art. De Visser's prints and mixed media paintings have been shown widely in Central New York, and they are in numerous private collections. Recently, De Visser was juried into the Central New York Watercolor Society as a signature member, and she currently serves on the Board of Directors.

De Visser is a life-long resident of upstate New York. While living in Rome, De Visser was president of the Rome Art Association and participated in the establishment of the Rome Art and Community Center. While living in Boonville, she was the founding president of the Dodge-Pratt-Northam Art & Community Center. Now living in Utica, De Visser teaches painting at Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute School of Art and, previously, at the Rome Art and Community Center. In addition, De Visser has taught history as an adjunct professor at Mohawk Valley Community College, Utica College, and SUNY Polytechnic.

The Cogar Gallery is open to the public free of charge from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. when the College is open.
