“Understanding the Middle East and Terrorism”

Herkimer College’s Professional Development Committee is hosting a speaker on “Understanding the Middle East and Terrorism” on Tuesday, February 18 at 7 p.m. in the Robert McLaughlin College Center Sarkus-Busch Theater.

The presentation will be given by Dr. Robert Taylor, an internationally known expert on the topic and a professor at the University of Texas/Dallas. It will focus on understanding terrorism from the Middle East, with an emphasis on understanding the principles of Islam and the radicalization of this world religion. Considerable time will be devoted to understanding the complexities of the Middle East as well as a discussion of current threats on the United States, and the role of individuals in preventing such activities in their communities.

The session will end with a question and answer period designed to address issues surrounding terrorism, intelligence and homeland security. The program is open to the public free of charge.
