Financial Aid Workshop

Herkimer County Community College is pleased to offer financial aid workshops for ALL college bound students and their parents.  Students do not need to be attending HCCC.  Financial aid counselors will explain the financial aid process and go step by step through the 2010-2011 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

Statewide SUNY Financial Aid Day

February 27, 2010 at 9:00am - 11:00am

Location: Ronald F. Williams Library, Academic Support Center

Herkimer County Community College is pleased to serve as a host site for families who would like assistance filing their 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Our professional financial aid staff will assist you through the online process in our state of the art computer labs.

You must register online at, http://www.suny.edu/studentevents or call 1-800-342-3811.

Once you registered for the program, our office will receive your reservation and send you an email confirmation.  Herkimer County Community College is pleased to serve as a host site for families who would like assistance with filing the 2010-2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online via http://www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Professional financial aid staff will assist you through the online process.

Prior to SUNY Financial Aid Day
• Request a Federal Pin Number at http://www.pin.ed.gov.
• Each student aid applicant and at least one parent (if applying on the web) must get a Personal Identification Number (PIN). 
  The pin application process will take less than five minutes and you will receive your PIN in 72 hours or less.
• To expedite processing time but not mandatory, a completed 2010-2011 FAFSA on the Web Worksheet

What to bring on SUNY Financial Aid Day
• Student and parents social security numbers
• Student and parents drivers licenses (if applicable)
• Alien registration card (non-U.S. citizens)
• Student and parents W-2 forms and other records of income earned for 2009
• 2009 bank statements and investment (stock, bonds, etc) information
• Student and parents 2009 Federal and State Income Tax Returns (Please estimate if not completed)
• 2009 untaxed income information (child support, workmen compensation, etc)
• FAFSA PIN number(s)

Financial Aid Awareness Day

Location: RMCC Lower Lobby

File your FAFSA early!  HCCC recommends filing your 2010-2011 FAFSA no later than April 1, 2010

Current students are encouraged to attend, so they can gather important information regarding the FAFSA process.  Our Financial Aid staff will be available to answer questions regarding the FAFSA application.  Students will also have the opportunity to win prizes, gift certificates and goodies!

Direct Loan Exit Counseling Session for Fall Graduates

December 02, 2010 at 12:30pm - 1:30pm

Location: Amphitheater/RMCC 288

Students that are graduating or transferring to another college at the end of the fall semester, and have received a Federal Direct Student Loan, are required to attend a Direct Loan Exit Counseling Session.  This session will help students understand their repayment options and responsibilities as a Direct Loan borrower. 

Internet Academy students will be mailed a Direct Loan Exit Counseling packet with further instructions.
