The Hot Club of San Francisco
Friday, April 11, 2014 -
The Hot Club of San Francisco celebrates the timeless music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli's pioneering Hot Club de France. With the all-string instrumentation of the original Hot Club, this versatile and accomplished ensemble takes listeners back in time to the 1930s, to the smoky jazz clubs of Paris and the gypsy caravans of Europe's countryside.
In addition to their extraordinary residences and solo performances of Postcards from Gypsyland, the Hot Club of San Francisco offers several special programs such as Meet Me in Paris - a concert of French love songs- and their swinging holiday concert, Cool Yule. HCSF has also created multiple programs pairing music with film, scoring early silent shorts with live gypsy jazz. The vintage films are reminiscent of what would have been seen throughout the gypsy communities of Europe in the early 20th century
From festivals in Mexico to concert halls across North America, The Hot Club of San Francisco keeps this historic music fresh and alive.
