Business: Health Services Management

This program is designed to provide a strong foundation for employment in the health care industry and to prepare students for transfer to a four-year program. This program will provide a core of courses that will enable the student to view the total picture of the management of the health care industry. Graduates will be prepared to:
- Describe current issues in the health care industry
- Describe access to care
- Understand the basic principles of management in the health care industry
- Explain financial considerations in the health care industry
- Identify the challenges and responsibilities of health care providers
- Work with basic computer software packages related to the field
- Understand fundamentals of accounting and computer technology
- Understand and use health service terms

Job opportunities continue to grow in the health care industry. This program will lead to jobs in adult care homes, hospitals, physicians' offices, home care agencies and more. You'll learn to be part of the management team in the health care industry.

Career Opportunities

Graduates find employment in managed care systems, nursing homes, adult care homes, assisted living facilities, independent living facilities, home care agencies, voluntary agencies, hospitals, physicians’ offices, and in both government and private industry.

Transfer Information

Transfer articulation agreements have been established with Berkeley College, Empire State College and SUNYIT.
