Course code: SC225-01 | CRN: 40486 | Credits: 4 | Seats: 15 / 20
This course runs from August 25, 2014 to December 16, 2014 on M from 2:05 pm to 5:05 pm
This course in organic chemistry is designed for science majors. Topics covered include hydrocarbon structures and properties, alkanes, alcohols, alkenes, elimination reactions, addition reactions, stereochemistry, substitution reactions, alkynes, arenes, spectroscopy and organometallic compounds. Theories of reactions and reaction mechanisms are discussed. The accompanying laboratory illustrates some of the principles learned in lecture and emphasizes organic laboratory techniques. Prerequisite: SC 154. Note: Offered fall semesters only.
