Herkimer County Community College is offering a variety of non-credit courses for community members.
Traditional Scrapbooking will teach the steps to effective scrapbooking including organizing, cropping, layout and journaling. The class will meet for four sessions on Tuesday evenings starting September 21 from 6-9 p.m. Pre-registration is required by September 16. The fee is $65. An additional materials fee is required on the first day of class.
Basic Irish Language will introduce participants to the basic conversational Irish (Gaelic) language. Common expressions, pronunciation, conversation, songs and poetry will be discussed. The course runs for six sessions on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. beginning on September 22. Pre-registration is required by September 16. The fee is $53.
Watercolor Painting will introduce participants to the use of transparent watercolor, learning value and perspective in design and color to enhance a variety of styles. Students will learn glazing techniques such as applying color on top of color. The class is four sessions on Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning September 22. Pre-registration is required by September 16. The fee is $63. Art supplies are required and not included in the course fee.
Herbs for Winter Health Care will discuss herbs that can be used to prevent and treat common winter health concerns with a strong focus on influenza prevention and treatment. This class meets for one Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on September 30. Pre-registration is required by no later than September 22. The fee is $24.
