Herkimer County Community College is offering non-credit courses for community members.

Energy Reduction Techniques for the Homeowner is an overview on how to save money on energy costs. The class will include lighting retrofits, heating efficiency, weatherization tips, incentives, rebates and more. The class meets for one session on Wednesday, September 21 from 6-9 p.m. Pre-registration is required by September 19. The fee is $24.

Do-It-Yourself for the Homeowner is an overview on how to properly maintain your home by learning basic carpentry skills using hand and power tools. Students will learn woodworking for shelving and closet builds, window and door repair, hole patching and much more. The class will meet for eight sessions on Thursday evenings beginning September 29 from 6 - 9 p.m. Pre-registration is required by September 23. The fee is $165. Materials are included in class fee but students need to provide their own safety glasses, tape measure, ear/sound protection and pencils.
