HCCC Offering Softball Clinics in February News RSS Feed

January 28, 2013

The Herkimer County Community College Softball Program is offering two softball clinics throughout the month of February for girls between the ages of 8 and 18.

The Hitting Clinic will take place on Saturdays from 4-6pm. This clinic will focus on hitting for power through basic fundamentals. Through a series of “Big League,” fun and innovative drills, participants will learn to build the swing from the ground up for the younger players, while concentrating on the finer aspects of the offensive game and strength drills for the older players. All participants will be allotted cage time each night.

A Defensive Clinic will take place on Sundays from 4-6pm, and will focus on pitching, catching, infield play and outfield play.

Both clinics will be held in the Physical Education Building with special guest appearances and presentations by college coaches and former professional softball players.

The cost for each four-week program is $60. Individual sessions are $20 each. Pre-registration is not required, but highly encouraged as the camp will be held to a maximum of 25 participants for each session. Registration will be open 30 minutes prior to the start of each clinic. Extra cage time will be available certain nights to all players for an additional cost.

Sneakers and workout clothes are required. Players are highly encouraged to bring their own bats, gloves and catchers gear (catchers only), but they will be provided if necessary.

Fresh off their first World Series appearance in over a decade, the Generals, under the leadership of Head Coach PJ Anadio, are ranked #1 in the nation in the NJCAA Preseason Poll.
