Health and Wellness Classes

Herkimer County Community College is accepting registrations for the following non-credit health and wellness classes.
Serious Strength combines cardio and strength training using weights and body resistance, targeting all major muscle groups. Strength training helps lay down bone density and speed up the metabolic process. This class is great for beginners and experienced participants. Section A is six sessions and meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Classes begin September 9. Pre-registration is required by September 4. The fee is $54.
Cardio-Sculpt is a cardio step and compound weight training class. This class consists of two-minute interval circuits of step and strength using a step box, weights and a mat. Section A is six sessions and meets on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Classes begin September 14. Pre-registration is required by September 10. The fee is $54.00.
Pilates is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises. The goal of Pilates is to balance one’s body, improve circulation, reduce stress, improve endurance, look better and feel great. Session A is five sessions and meets on Tuesday afternoons from 12:00 to 12:45 pm. Classes begin September 15. Pre-registration is required by September 11. The fee is $33. Session B is five sessions and meets on Thursday afternoons from 12:30 to 1:15 pm. Classes begin September 10. Pre-registration is required by September 9. The fee is $33.
Gentle Yoga features breathing exercises, stretches, relaxation and meditation; all of which assist in stress reduction and in the balancing of body, mind and spirit. Flexibility and strength, improved mental functioning, toning and detoxifying of internal organs and glands and feelings of inner peace and joy are all benefits of yoga practice. The class offers a gentle level of intensity. Section A is six sessions and meets on Thursday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. Classes begin September 10. Pre-registration is required by September 9. The fee is $65.
Yoga for All offers the opportunity to increase freedom of movement, improve balance, enhance concentration, expand breathing and heighten calmness and relaxation. Classes are taught around the body as a whole, with safe and comfortable postures (asana) to reach a deeper physical potential. The beginner class is six sessions and meets on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 to7:45 pm. Classes begin September 8. Pre-registration is required by September 4. The fee is $65. The intermediate class is six sessions on Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 7:45 pm. Classes begin September 10. Pre-registration is required by September 8. The fee is $65.00.
