Two former Herkimer County Community College men’s soccer players, Kevin Mellon ‘01 and Beau Brinsko ‘03 have been named assistant coaches at NCAA Division I schools. Both played at Herkimer for Coach Pepe Aragon.

Mellon has been appointed Director of Soccer Administration at the University of Connecticut. Previously, he was Director of Soccer Operations at St. John’s University. While playing for the Herkimer Generals, Mellon led the College to two NJCAA National and Regional championships in 1999 and 2000. He then played two years for SUNY Potsdam.

Brinsko was named Assistant Head Soccer Coach at NCAA Division I Hartwick College in 2010. Prior to this appointment, he was Goalkeeping Coach at Binghamton University. He was the starting goalkeeper for the Generals in 2001, when Herkimer advanced to the NJCAA championship. Brinsko captained the team in 2002 and was an all-conference and all-region selection that season. He also received the Lynn “Pop” Walsh award, given to Herkimer’s top male student-athlete.

“I am so proud and happy for Kevin and Beau,” said Coach Pepe Aragon. Both were great players and will also be tremendous coaches. They continue to make us proud.”
