NJCAA Men’s Soccer Players of the Week

Two Herkimer County Community College men’s soccer players have been named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for August 29-September 4, 2011.
The Division III Player of the Week is Herkimer’s Charlie Anderson, a forward from Southampton, England.
Anderson (5’10”) finished last week with four goals and nine points in two blowout victories for No. 2 HCCC. The freshman thrived in his first collegiate match, scoring three goals in a 4-0 win over Hudson Valley CC. In a 9-0 win over Clinton CC, Anderson pelted the goalie with 19 shots and finished with one goal and one assist.
The Division III Goalie of the Week is Erick Szczerba, Lakeport, NY (Chittenango High School). Szczerba (5��(tm)11”) shutout both of Herkimer��(tm)s opponents this week. The freshman recorded five saves in a 4-0 win over Hudson Valley CC and four saves in a 9-0 blowout of Clinton CC.
