Herkimer County Community College’s softball team recently signed two former Canastota High School players for the 2011-12 academic year, Jessica Patterelli and Alexis Havens.

Patterelli comes with plenty of accolades throughout her illustrious five-year varsity career at Canastota. This year, Patterelli was named to the All NYS First Team as a P/INF, and was an All CNY First Team selection. Patterelli was honored by the Utica Observer Dispatch as Mohawk Valley’s Player of the Year, and was named 1st Team All-Mohawk Valley. This was Patterelli’s third All NYS 1st Team selection and fourth overall as she made the 2nd Team her freshman year as an infielder. Patterelli was also named the CSC Player of the Year. “Obviously landing someone of Jess’s caliber is a big deal for us. She is going to fill a huge void in the top of our line-up, vacated by two-time All-American Kayla Ladd who graduated this May. I am expecting Jess to step right in and be a major contributor for us right off the bat,” Coach PJ Anadio said.

Also joining the Generals next season will be Patterelli’s high school teammate Alexis Havens. Havens comes to the Generals as a heavy swinging short stop but her raw athleticism might allow Anadio the flexibility to move her around.  “When you talk about potential, Alexis comes to mind every time. I have big expectations for Alexis and as long as she comes to work every day with intent, she could be the next All-American here at HCCC.  She possesses a unique blend of size, speed and strength,” Anadio added.
