Stradivari Quartet to Perform at Herkimer
October 05, 2009
Tickets are now available for the Stradivari Quartet performance on Friday, October 23 at Herkimer County Community College. The concert will begin at 8:00 p.m. in the Sarkus-Busch Theater located in the McLaughlin College Center.
The Swiss Stradivari Foundation Habisreutinger lent four exceptional Stradivari instruments to four terrific young musicians, who formed the Stradivari Quartet, based in Zurich. After a stunning debut concert, referred to by the Budapester Zeitung as a moment “when stars are born,” the Quartet was celebrated with standing ovations in its hometown as well as on its debut tour through Europe. The New York Times says the Quartet is “Distinguished by an impressively refined sound. Sweet-toned elegance and subtle dynamic shading. Remarkably nuanced playing.” More information and a sampling of their music can be found on their website: http://www.stradivariquartett.com.
The concert is offered through The Robert H. Wood Great Artists Series, made possible by a generous endowment made by the late Robert H. Wood, a long-time resident of Ilion, NY. The Robert H. Wood Great Artists Series sponsors at least two classical music performances annually to allow residents of all ages to enjoy high-caliber music and artists.
Tickets are $10 each, with free tickets available to students of Herkimer County high schools and Herkimer County Community College. Sales are on a first-come, first served basis. More information and ticket reservation forms are available at the HCC Foundation website or by calling the Great Artists Series hotline at 315-866-0300 ext. 8700.
