Student Athletes Named to Green and Gold Club

Herkimer County Community College has named two student-athletes to the Green and Gold Club for February 2012.
The Male Athlete of the Month is Goey Charles, Men’s Basketball, Uniondale, NY. A Business: Sports & Recreation Management senior, Charles averages 11 points and seven rebounds per game. Coach Matt Lee said, “Goey’s last month playing for us was his best. He put everything together that he had been working on for the last two years. He was a pleasure to coach.”
The Female Athlete of the Month is Sylvia Ross, Women’s Swimming and Diving, Holland Patent, NY. A Business: Accounting freshman, Ross was named to the 2nd team All-Region in one meter and three meter diving. She also set school records and Mountain Valley Conference records in both the one and three meter. Coach Vicki Brown said, “Considering that Herkimer does not have a three meter board, this is an incredible accomplishment and truly speaks to Sylvia’s confidence and immense talent. She is willing to challenge herself and step outside her comfort zone.”
HCCC’s Green and Gold Club honors an outstanding male and female athlete each month.
