November 30, 2012
Herkimer County Community College will hold an unveiling ceremony for the updated Herkimer County Veterans’ Wall of Honor in the lower level of the Robert McLaughlin College Center on Friday, December 7 from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.
The Herkimer County Veterans’ Wall of Honor recognizes Herkimer County men and women, in all branches of the military, who have served in wars and major armed conflicts from World War I to the present. The Wall was recently updated to include campaign ribbons for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Lettering was provided by Al Dorantes of Herkimer, and campaign ribbons were painted by HCCC alumna Rachel Curtis ‘12, of Mohawk, NY.
A color guard for the ceremony will be provided by the Herkimer County Veterans Council. The program will include remarks by Senator James Seward, Assemblyman Marc Butler, HCCC student-veteran Adam Lisser of Rome, NY and director of the Herkimer County Veterans’ Service Agency Charlie Miller. “It is an honor and a privilege for Herkimer County Community College to be able to recognize the service of Herkimer County veterans,” said Dan Sargent, assistant to the President, and coordinator of the effort to update the Wall of Honor.
