Youth Art Classes Offered at Herkimer

Herkimer County Community College is offering three art classes for three different youth age groups.
Craft Box Art for 5-6 year-olds will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, July 11-27, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. This class will work with materials that one would find in a craft box. Students will be learning basic art skills while using materials and creating projects at their age level. One of the larger projects will be creating tissue paper stained glass. Materials are not included in fee. Pre-registration deadline is July 7. The fee is $45.
Clay For Kids is for 7-8 year-olds and will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 12-28, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. This class will be working with FIMO clay. The students will be able to make figurines, magnets and beads to create jewelry. The instructor will take the pieces home and fire them so they are ready for the next class to be made into the students’ creations. Pre-registration deadline is July 7. The fee is $75. Materials fee is included in cost.
Keepsake Painting for 9-11 year-olds will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 12-28, from 3pm to 5pm. In this course students will be able to bring in any type of unfinished wooden piece and transform the piece using a variety of supplies and d’cor. The instructor will clear coat all projects so they may last a lifetime for each student. Pre-registration deadline is July 7. The fee is $45 and does not include materials.
