Herkimer Receives National Recognition
The National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) has announced that Herkimer County Community College will receive the Pepsi Cup award for its third place national finish among non-scholarship Division III community college athletic programs for 2006-2007. The Pepsi/NATYCAA Awards are given annually to recognize overall athletic program excellence by two-year colleges at the national level. This is the second consecutive year that Herkimer has achieved a ranking of third place in the nation.
The College of DuPage (IL) came in first place and Gloucester County College (NJ) came in second place. Herkimer received the top-ranking among non-scholarship community college athletic programs in New York State. The Generals earned 140 points for national placements in men's soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s lacrosse, baseball, men’s and women’s bowling, women’s swimming and women’s track and field.
HCCC Director of Athletics Donald Dutcher said “we are very proud of this ranking. It’s a testament to a long history of hard work on the part of the entire athletic department staff and student athletes, together with the support of our faculty and the College administration. It is a total team effort.”
NATYCAA is the professional organization of two-year college athletic administrators with membership open to all two-year colleges in the nation.
