Top Ten Tips and Strategies for Parents

  1. Stay in touch with your student - call, e-mail or snail mail.
  2. Encourage your son or daughter to stay on campus on the weekends to meet new friends.
  3. Send care packages!
  4. Gather up your loose quarters— they’ll need to do laundry at some point!
  5. Encourage your child to get involved in campus groups and attend events.
  6. Ask about their classes—the good, the bad and the ugly!
  7. Teach them how to cook a few good meals—mac and cheese every night is not a nutritious diet!
  8. Encourage your student to take advantage of the many resources our campus offers.
  9. Tell them it’s ok to ask for help.
  10. Encourage your student to stay active to avoid the Freshman 15!
