How to Adjust Spam Filters

If you are not receiving mail from HCCC at your non-college e-address, your spam filter might need to be adjusted. Here are solutions for two of the most popular service providers—others will be similar.

Hotmail:

  1. Log in
  2. Click Options (right side of screen)
  3. Click Mail (left side)
  4. Click Junk E-Mail Protection
  5. Click Safe List
  6. Click in the "Type an address or domain" box and type "@herkimer.edu"
  7. Click OK

Yahoo (old interface):

  1. Log in
  2. Click Options (right side of screen)
  3. Click Filters (middle)
  4. Click Add button
  5. Click in the "From header" text box and type "@herkimer.edu"
  6. Click the "Move message to:" drop-down and click "Inbox"
  7. Click Add Filter button (lower-left)

Yahoo (new Beta interface):

  1. Log in
  2. Click Options (upper right side of screen)
  3. From the drop-down menu, click Mail Options
  4. Click Filters (left column)
  5. Click Create or Edit Filters
  6. Click Add
  7. Click in the "From header" text box and type "@herkimer.edu"
  8. Click the "Move message to:" drop-down and click "Inbox"
  9. Click Add Filter button (lower-left)
