Project SEARCH

Teaching useful skills for community employment.

Project SEARCH is an international internship program for young adults with disabilities, which focuses on competitive employment and maximum independence for participants. The local program is a collaboration between Herkimer College and Arc Herkimer that enables participants to take part in daily classroom instruction and gain hands-on work experience by rotating among three unique, unpaid internships at Herkimer College. Skills learned by the interns will be marketable in their search for community employment.

Who is eligible?

Individuals 18 to 34 years old with a documented developmental disability, a willingness to learn and achieve excellent attendance, and a personal goal to become employed within the community at the end of the Project SEARCH program.
