Message from President McColgin to Students

Good Afternoon,

On behalf of the faculty, staff, and administration of Herkimer County Community College, I want to reach out to all our students to thank you for your exemplary conduct during this past week. The level of cooperation we have seen from our students during this time of uncertainty has impressed me greatly. Your cooperative spirit and positive attitude during this time are truly appreciated. You make me proud to be your College President!

It is normal during a period of crisis and rapidly changing conditions for people to experience anxiety and stress, and I want to acknowledge that. I certainly understand the pressure and the worry many of you are feeling now. Please be assured that I and our campus leadership recognize that this is the case, and we are doing everything we can to stay on top of the situation as it progresses, and to get you the most accurate, up-to-date information in as timely a manner as possible. We are meeting on a daily basis to monitor events and updates as they occur.

I am also participating in daily conference calls with the SUNY Chancellor and the presidents of all other SUNY colleges to stay informed of guidance from SUNY administration. We are also navigating in a somewhat unpredictable atmosphere as we strive to keep you well informed.

Faculty members are currently working on their specific plans for alternative modes of delivery for each of their courses.  Each faculty member will be in contact with their students by the close of business on Tuesday, March 17th in order to provide them with their plans for the remainder of the spring semester.

In the meantime, I urge you to check your Herkimer.edu email often, in order to keep up with communications from the College. I would also encourage you to stay in regular contact with your course instructors to be sure you receive and understand any communications from them. Lastly, keep an eye out for text message updates from the College.

Again, thank you for your continued cooperation as we manage the current difficult situation.

Sincerely,

President Cathleen
