Update regarding 2020 Commencement

Dear Students,

As communities and individuals around the world respond to the coronavirus pandemic, we at Herkimer County Community College continue to take measures to protect the health of our students and employees, and to do our part to help reduce the spread of disease.

We have had to make a difficult decision regarding the commencement ceremony. On Friday, May 15, we will host a special virtual commencement ceremony to be streamed live, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Our virtual event will allow you to share your celebration with your classmates, family and friends, yet remain safe at home.

We understand and empathize that not having a traditional ceremony is likely a disappointment for you, your families, and the entire campus community. We are planning an inspiring event that draws on our Herkimer College traditions, and perhaps starts some new ones too. Be assured your Herkimer College family will be supporting and cheering for you on one of the biggest days of your life.

We will be looking forward to the fall, when we can celebrate with you in person during the Fall Fest & Alumni Weekend. We intend to create a festive occasion for the Class of 2020 to gather and celebrate.

Please watch your email and check this page for more information to come about both the virtual ceremony and the fall celebration.

In the meantime, continue to work hard toward your academic goals. Lean on your friends and family for support. Reach out to your faculty and staff for assistance and support. Have patience with each other and yourselves. And know that we are in this together.

Thank you for your continuing understanding and flexibility in these extraordinary times. I sincerely wish good health to you, your families, and your loved ones.

With Warm Regards,

Cathleen C. McColgin, Ph.D.
President
