Bio

Jennifer Herzog received both her M.S. and M.Phil. degrees at the Yale University School of Medicine, where she studied the pathogenesis of Kaposi’s Sarcoma Herpesvirus (KSHV). She currently teaches microbiology and non-majors general biology courses at Herkimer. 

Herzog has a strong interest in developing novel teaching strategies for science education and has developed programs for K-career microbiology education. Distance learning has afforded her the opportunity to develop many innovative ways to convey biological concepts and techniques online. 

She is the current director of the Herkimer College Honors Program, which assists students in developing the knowledge and skills required for the highest level success in their careers through experiential learning. Professionally in her field, Herzog has been an active member of the American Society for Microbiology for over 20 years, and routinely presents at its annual meetings.

Her spare time is spent volunteering in the community, especially through elementary school science programs and library book clubs.
