  • Multicultural Event Held for Children's Center
    Students in the Early Childhood and Childhood Education programs at Herkimer College recently hosted a multi-cultural event for the College’s Children Center.  The event was part of a hands-on learning experience for the students who were tasked with offering age appropriate activities to engage the preschoolers at the Children’s Center.
  • Students Inspect Cruise Ship
    Students from Herkimer College’s Travel and Events Management program participated in a ship inspection on Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas in Bayonne, NJ. Susan Prinzer, a representative of Royal Caribbean guided the students through staterooms and suites, restaurants, shops, pool areas, a zero-gravity simulator and the recreation center. Students were accompanied by Debra Sutton, Associate Professor, of Travel and Tourism; Amy Roepnack Assistant Professor, Fashion Buying & Merchandising; Kyle Roepnack, Athletic Trainor; Allison Swartz, Adjunct Instructor, Travel and Tourism and Herkimer College Alumnus Deb Lawendowski ’98, owner of Cruise Wizards in Whitesboro, NY.
  • Bobesky Publishes Article on Ukrainian-Americans
    Herkimer County Community College Assistant Professor of Human Services Christina Bobesky recently published an article with Matthew Mulvaney in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies for the Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group, titled Ukrainian and American identities as predictors of marital and parenting attitudes within the acculturating Ukrainian-American community.
  • Herkimer College Students Complete Internship at Adirondack Scenic Railroad
    Many college programs offer students the opportunity for internships in order to relate theory from the classroom to a practical work environment. A hands-on internship experience is built into Herkimer County Community College’s Travel & Events Management program with internships ranging from 60 to 120 hours and three to six credit hours. 
  • Cogar Gallery to Feature Artwork by Dana Klein
    Herkimer College’s Cogar Gallery will showcase Dana Klein’s “Short Stories” from Friday, April 29 to Friday, May 27. An artist reception will be held on Sunday, May 15 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Herkimer College Students Participate in SUNY Assembly Conference
    Four members of the Herkimer County Community College Student Government Association (SGA) recently participated in the SUNY Assembly Conference in Saratoga Springs. The conference theme was ‘Progress Over Process,’ asking student leaders to not let the process of a difficult task slow one’s success, but instead focus on the greater good so true progress can be made. Several workshops were held during the three-day event, ranging from professional development to the inner workings of student government to accomplish the theme. The Student Assembly of the State University of New York, known as SUNY SA, is an organization comprised of student leaders elected by their peers from across SUNY’s 64 campuses. Empowering students throughout the state, SUNY SA is committed to student life and ensuring the representation of its members on the state and national level as well as throughout the SUNY system.
