Herkimer College to Hold 49th Annual Commencement

Herkimer County Community College’s 49th annual Commencement will be held on Friday, May 19 at 5 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Physical Education Building. There are 448 candidates for degrees and certificates this year.

Board of Trustees Chairwoman Isabella Crandall will preside over the ceremony. The National Anthem will be sung by Brittany J. Gallt, a Communication Arts: Music Industry major from St. Johnsville, NY. The invocation and benediction will be given by Pastor Dwayne A. Durant ‘98, of Kuyahoora Community Church.

Student Government Association President Marica Bellico, of Naples, Italy; Herkimer County Legislature Chairman Bernard Peplinski Sr.; New York State Senator James Seward; and New York State Assembly members Marc Butler, Anthony Brindisi and Brian Miller will deliver greetings.
The student address, I am a Scholar, will be given by DeShawn McCrea, a Communication Arts: Digital Filmmaking major from Fort Plain, NY.

Degrees will be conferred by President Cathleen C. McColgin, with assistance from Provost Michael Oriolo and Dean of Students Matthew Hawes.

Admission to the ceremony is by ticket only. Non-ticket holders may view the ceremony on a large screen in the Sarkus-Busch Theater, located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center. A live webcast of the ceremony will be available at www.herkimer.edu/commencement.

A reception for the graduates and their guests will be held immediately following the ceremony.
