Herkimer College Physical Therapist Assistant Program Receives Continued Accreditation Status

The Herkimer County Community College Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) associate in applied science degree program has been fully reaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), effective October 25, 2017.

The continued accreditation decision is based on the program’s level of compliance with the standards and required elements, as well as the professional manner in which the program has addressed any previous concerns from the Commission.

By offering students an affordable and quality education, Herkimer’s PTA program provide local and regional areas with competent, professional, employable healthcare providers. The program is designed to prepare the student to be a skilled health care provider who works under the supervision of a Physical Therapist to approach a diversity of health related conditions in a manner that follows established guidelines for practice as outlined by the APTA.

Herkimer College’s PTA two-year pass rate on the Board exam exceeds 90 percent, and the two-year employment rate is 100 percent. More information about Herkimer’s PTA program is available at www.herkimer.edu/pta.
