Dr. Nicole McDaniels, Associate Professor, is recognized by The Genesis Group for dedication to profession and community

Nicole McDaniels, Ph.D. was recently recognized by The Genesis Group for dedication to her profession and community. The Genesis Group “Striving for Success” program honors young professionals and entrepreneurs who go above and beyond while excelling in their careers.

She joined the Herkimer County Community College faculty in 2011 and was promoted to associate professor in 2017. As advisor to the Science Club, she provides students with opportunities to participate in a variety of science related experiences outside of the classroom, including book clubs, invited speakers, club showcases, and volunteer work. Additionally, she has taken students on trips to the Bodies Exhibit in New York City, The Boston Aquarium, Syracuse Zoo and Howe Caverns.

McDaniels serves as co-chair of Herkimer College’s Middle States Self Study Steering Committee and chair of the Science Advisory Committee. She is a member of the Assessment and Curriculum committees, and is a liaison for the College Now concurrent enrollment program.

McDaniels was named 2017 Conservation Educator of the Year by the Herkimer County Soil and Water Conservation District. She also has been named to Who’s Who in North American Education and received the Christopher White Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Outstanding Community Contributions. She was the recipient of an Oneida/Herkimer Foundation Faculty Development Grant in 2017 and 2018. Her professional affiliations include American Association for the Advancement of Science; Future Professoriate Program, Syracuse University; Phi Beta Kappa; Golden Key National Honor Society; UB Launch Chapter of the Mortar Board; and National Society for Collegiate Scholars.

“Dr. McDaniels is a dedicated educator and is committed to providing her students with individual support and an excellent academic experience. She goes above and beyond in service to her students, the College and our community,” said William McDonald, associate dean of academic affairs at Herkimer College.
