Herkimer College Announces New Degree Program in Supply Chain Management

Herkimer County Community College will offer an associate in applied science degree in Supply Chain Management, beginning in the fall of 2019. The program can be completed entirely online, and most courses are also available on campus.

Supply Chain Management is a system approach to managing the entire flow of information, materials and services from raw material suppliers through factories and warehouses to the end-customer. Supply Chain Management represents a philosophy of doing business that stresses processes and integration resulting in operational efficiency and profitability.

Herkimer College’s Supply Chain Management program will prepare students for a variety of supervisory roles in logistics. Successful graduates will be prepared to perform business functions required to successfully maintain an effective supply chain management process; create and maintain effective and updated regulatory standards necessary; and follow standard operational procedures. Examples of job titles that successful graduates of this program may qualify for include: planner, buyer planner, master scheduler, supply chain manager, logistics manager, materials manager, purchasing manager and procurement manager.

“The demand for professionals in Supply Chain Management is rapidly growing. The fact that this program can be completed entirely online creates a great opportunity for people who are already working in the field and are interested in advancing in their careers,” said Associate Dean of Academic Affairs William McDonald.
