Two Herkimer College Professors Named 2019 SUNY Online Teaching Ambassadors

Herkimer County Community College Professor of Chemistry George Smith and Assistant Professor of English Jason Brown have been named Open SUNY Online Teaching Ambassadors for 2019. They were recognized for this distinction at the Open SUNY Summit, an annual conference for online practitioners.

Nominees must be SUNY faculty or instructors, Open SUNY Fellows, and have current online teaching experience. They must be considered exemplary online SUNY educators, who are enthusiastic and effective in online teaching, and who can be positive and strong advocates for online teaching in the SUNY community.

Open SUNY Online Teaching Ambassadors are afforded opportunities to be online teaching advocates and to share their thoughts with the community in various ways throughout the year.

Open SUNY is a SUNY-wide collaboration that opens the door to world-class online-enabled learning opportunities. Open SUNY is not a new degree program or a new school; it’s a seamless way for students to access the courses, degrees, professors, and rich academics of all 64 SUNY campuses flexibly—wherever and whenever they want.

Herkimer College’s Internet Academy offers the premier two-year SUNY experience — online. For years, it’s been a leading provider of outstanding online college programs offering more than 150 courses, 20 degrees and three certificate programs, entirely online.
