46th Annual Herkimer College Commencement

Herkimer County Community College’s 46th annual Commencement will be held Friday, May 16 at 5 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Physical Education building. There are 695 candidates for degrees and certificates this year.

The National Anthem will be sung by Jaime Catlin, a Business: Human Resource Management major from Chittenango. The invocation and benediction will be given by Jonnie Nickles, youth pastor at Life Church in Rome, NY. Herkimer County Legislature Chairman Vincent J. Bono, New York State Assemblyman Marc Butler and New York State Senator James Seward will deliver greetings. Herkimer College Student Government President and graduating senior Avery McLemore of Poughkeepsie will also deliver greetings to the graduates and guests.

The student address, “Go For It!” will be given by graduating senior Melissa Krull of Cold Brook, NY, a Radio-TV Broadcasting major. Employee and student recipients of the SUNY Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence will be recognized during the ceremony.

Degrees will be conferred upon the Class of 2014 by Interim President Nicholas F. Laino, with assistance from Dean of Academic Affairs Michael Oriolo and Dean of Students Matthew Hawes.

Admission to the ceremony is by ticket only. Non-ticket holders may view the ceremony on a large screen in the Sarkus-Busch Theater, located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center. The ceremony will be broadcast live on HCTV, Time Warner Cable channel 99 in Southern Herkimer County. There will also be a live webcast at www.herkimer.edu.
A reception for graduates and their guests will be held in the Robert McLaughlin College Center immediately following the ceremony.
