Health and Fitness Classes Offered at Herkimer College

Herkimer College will be offering new sections of health and fitness classes beginning in January.

Yoga for All offers an introduction to pranayama (breath work), asanas (postures) and savasana (meditative relaxation). Section A will meet for six sessions on Tuesday evenings from 6:15-7:45 p.m. beginning on January 6, 2015. The fee is $54.

Gentle Yoga offers the healthful benefits of nurturing physical postures and stretches and restorative movements to help relieve stress, tighten muscles and restrictive physical health. Section A will meet on Thursday evening’s beginning on January 8, 2015 and meet for six weeks from 4:30-6 p.m. The fee is $54.

Pilates exercises strengthen and tone muscles and provide flexibility and balance. Pilates was developed to create a healthy body, mind and life for all ages of individuals. Section A will meet for five weeks on Mondays from 12:30-1:15 p.m. beginning on January 5, 2015. The fee is $33.

Tabata Interval Fusion is a mixture of kickboxing, step and arm, core exercises that is easy to follow with no complicated patterns. Section A will meet for five weeks on Mondays from 6-7 p.m. beginning on January 5, 2015. The cost is $30.

Super Strength Class is a proven weight room-style class incorporating the use of dumbbells, benches and mats for core-targeted exercise. This workout targets legs, arms, shoulders and abs. Section A will meet on Wednesday evenings beginning January 7, 2015 for six weeks from 6-7 p.m. The fee is $36.

Adult Swim Lessons: Crash Course will help you to fine tune your swim stroke technique. Participants must be able to swim at least one length of the pool unassisted. The class will focus on the four competitive strokes. The class will meet for weeks on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. beginning on January 6, 2015.
